Employment Opportunity: ARCHAEOLOGIST (California Based)

$27 – 32 PER HOUR; ON-CALL

Position Overview: Exceptional opportunity to assist SummitWest Environmental with a full range of archaeological services for diverse projects across California. In this role, you will conduct both fieldwork and office-based tasks, conducting archaeological surveys, monitoring, excavations, and data collection. The ideal candidate will be passionate about archaeology, have a strong work ethic and be eager to expand their skills while working closely with seasoned professionals. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to exciting projects, travel to various field locations, and play an integral role in preserving and documenting cultural resources. Essential Requirements: Applicants must possess at least two years of archaeological work experience with at least one year of fieldwork experience in California. Must be available for travel for up to two weeks at a time based on assigned projects.

Educational Requirement: A bachelor’s degree or higher in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.

Employment Status: This is an on-call, non-exempt, and predominately field-based position. The employee selected for the role must reside in California (or in close proximity) since the majority of our projects at this time are in California.
